This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store and protect your personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal data:

Account Information: When you register, we collect your name and email address. These are used to create and manage your Oppono account.

Team Information: Team name, location, postcode area, league level, age group, squad size, home ground, kit colours and a team biography. This information is visible to other registered users of the platform.

Match Activity: Match requests, fixture confirmations, availability posts, and match reviews you submit through the platform.

Notification Preferences: Your choices regarding how and when you receive notifications (push, email, in-app).

Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers and usage analytics collected automatically when you use the platform.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data for the following purposes:

  • To create and manage your Oppono account
  • To enable you to post availability, send match requests and communicate with other teams
  • To deliver in-app, push and email notifications relevant to your activity
  • To display your team profile to other registered users
  • To improve the platform through aggregated usage analytics
  • To respond to support enquiries and feedback
  • To comply with our legal obligations
  • The lawful basis for processing your data is primarily contract (to provide the Oppono service you have signed up for) and legitimate interests (platform improvement and security).

    4. Email Communications

We may send you transactional emails relating to your account activity, such as match request notifications, fixture confirmations and platform updates. These are operational communications and are necessary for the service.

We do not send marketing emails. You can manage your notification preferences within the Oppono platform at any time.

Email delivery is managed through third-party providers operating under appropriate data processing agreements.

    5. Push Notifications

With your consent, we may send push notifications to your device via OneSignal, our push notification provider. OneSignal processes device tokens and delivery data on our behalf under a Data Processing Agreement. You can withdraw consent for push notifications at any time through your device settings or within the Oppono notification preferences page.

    6. Analytics

We collect aggregated, anonymised usage data to understand how the platform is being used and to identify areas for improvement. This data does not identify individual users and is used solely for internal platform development purposes.

We do not use Google Analytics or any third-party advertising analytics on the Oppono platform.

    7. Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to maintain your session and improve your experience. Please refer to our Cookie Policy for full details of the cookies we use and how to manage them.

    8. Sharing Your Data

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data to third parties.

    We share data only with:

  • Service providers acting as data processors on our behalf (e.g. OneSignal for push notifications, email delivery providers) under appropriate contractual safeguards
  • Other registered Oppono users — your team profile information (name, location, league level, kit colours) is visible to other coaches on the platform. Your personal name and email address are never publicly displayed.
  • Legal authorities if required to do so by law or in connection with legal proceedings
  • 9. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, subject to any legal retention obligations.

Aggregated, anonymised analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be used to identify individuals.
